Subject:  YOU DID IT!

Good morning!

I am so excited.. could not wait for holiday school next week!

Awour passed the Kianda interview. With no additional tuition too! Oh yes! She only had the knowledge that Madari has given her… and it was enough! I am so proud of her, and most of all grateful to you and all the teachers at Madari for doing such a good job in preparing her. This goes to prove that children can still learn in a free, fun, non-stressful  learning environment like the one Madari provides.

I must admit that the day you told her you are sure she is ready for the interview, I was still not so sure. I even considered withdrawing her to spare her the shame. But she wante d to try. I had my doubts, especially after she told me that she had been asked to spell RITUALISTIC! (I hope I spelled it right!). The confidence she gets from being at Madari made her try anyway… even though she had never heard the word and had no idea what it means. We have decided to take her to Cavina and not Kianda. All the same, I am sure you understand the joy we felt when the Kianda call came anyway.

Thank you Mrs. Ndesandjo, Mrs. Hirani, Ms. Kathomi, Mrs. Gichini, Teacher Lucas, Uncle Joseph, mama shamba and all the Aunties!

As she joins primary school in September… I am sure the foundation laid by Madari will play a big role in helping her adjust. It seems like just yesterday when she was bawling loudly (and she can be LOUD!), and I was feeling so guilty to leave her with Mrs. Hirani. Mama shamba was the translator for her since she only spoke Luo! Now her English is even better than mine (she says, mom! You drink milk… not eat milk!).

HONGERA!

Keep up the good work.

God bless you.

June Onguru
