CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Christmas Concert

Every end of year (End of Term III in November) we have our Annual Xmas Concert. All children (from playgroup – pre-primary) sing/dance/ recite poems for all the parents. The graduating class (pre-primary) who are moving on to primary 1 are given graduation certificates. It is a very exciting and fulfilling event for all.

Outings
We go on many outings throughout the year i.e to the National Museum, to Mamba Village, to Parklands Sports Club, to The Giraffe Centre, to Sarit Centre etc. Children love outings on our school bus and benefit very much from the exposure.

Fancy Dress Day
This is a great morning at the end of October (Halloween) when all the children come in costumes, many of them designed by creative mums and / or dads. We get some splendid outfits. Most of the children are amazed, even astounded by the display as this is a new experience for them.

Sports Day
Once a year in our May Term, we have a Sports Day in which all children participate as well as parents. We have many races (relay/water) and demonstrations of the childrens' achievements in sports activities (sometimes, jumping rope). This year the parents also jumped rope and we all had a great time.

The Charity Fair
We have our Annual Charity Fair in October between the tenth and twentieth on a Saturday. This year, the Charity Fair was on Saturday, October 18th. The Charity Fair has been a major fixture of Madari for 24 years and was suggested by one of our parents as a way to have a great social day for children and adults as well as garnering funds for worthy charities.

We have boutiques, food stalls, horse rides, face painting, jumping castle, raffles, a second hand shop as well as a catered lunch. Each year we donate the proceeds to Twana Twita (200 orphans in Kitui), Shangilia Mtoto wa Africa (slum childrens' school in Kangemi), Gatina School (run by Franciscan Sisters in Kawangware), Crisis Pregnancy Ministries in Kawangware (teenage mothers and their babies) and various other charities.

1. This is our Raffle at the Charity Fair attended by one of our teachers, Lucas Nganga.

2. One of our parents, Fareeda Keshavjee, contributed greatly to our Charity Fair by preparing delicious hamburgers and chips.

3. One of our former parents, Joan Tesoro, donated a jumping Castle which the children always enjoy - at our Annual Charity Fair.

4. The Magic Man, Joe Rodrigues, entertained the children at our Charity Fair. He has donated his expertise since the Fair started, 15 years ago!!!

5. Shangilia Mtoto wa Africa children entertained marvelously at our Charity Fair. The Manager, Mr. Gachie is one of our old-time parents.

6. Shangilia Mtoto wa Africa's orchestra - very good, too.

7. The Parking, outside of Madari, for the Charity Fair.

8. Calling out Raffle Numbers and the children are helping at the Charity Fair.

P.S. The proceeds of the fair were distributed to seven different very needy charities for children around Nairobi.
